چکیده

Molecular markers and the agents developed to target them have changed the landscape of non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment. First-generation targeted agents have been proven to be more effective than chemotherapy in patients with certain driver mutations (i.e., EGFR, ALK) and the newest targeted agents are being developed to address the issue of resistance. Speakers at JADPRO Live at APSHO emphasized that the use of these targeted treatments begins with tumor tissue, which requires a multidisciplinary approach among oncologists, radiologists, surgeons, pulmonologists, and pathologists. “Sufficient tissue is needed for many reasons,” said Sukhmani K. Padda, MD, of Stanford University School of Medicine, Palo Alto, California. “Many tests are performed on this tissue, including confirmation of histologic diagnosis, immunochemistry, and molecular markers.” “Tissue is the issue, but it’s also at a premium,” said R. Donald Harvey, PharmD, BCOP, FCCP, FHOPA, of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, “meaning you may not be able to go back and get more in some cases.”

Identification of a Novel Tumor-Binding Peptide for Lung Cancer Through in-vitro Panning

Tumor-targeted therapies are playing growing roles in cancer research. The exploitation of these powerful therapeutic modalities largely depends on the discovery of tumor-targeting ligands. Phage display has proven a promising high throughput screening tool for the identification of novel specific peptides with high binding affinity to cancer cells. In the present study, we describe the use of ...

A review of the role of dopamine receptors and novel therapeutic strategies in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)

Lung cancer is a very aggressive and most deadly cancer in both men and women. Lung cancer is divided into two types of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). NSCLC is divided into 3 subgroups: adenocarcinoma (AC), squamous cell carcinoma (SqCC) and large cell carcinoma (LCC). Dopamine is involved in controlling motions, cognition, emotions, memory and reward mech...

The Effect of Time-dependent Prognostic Factors on Survival of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer using Bayesian Extended Cox Model

Abstract Background: Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers around the world. The aim of this study was to use Extended Cox Model (ECM) with Bayesian approach to survey the behavior of potential time-varying prognostic factors of Non-small cell lung cancer. Materials and Methods: Survival status of all 190 patients diagnosed with Non-Small Cell lung cancer referring to hospitals in ...

Prognostic value of various metabolic parameters on pre-treatment 18-F-FDG PET/CT in patients with stage I-III non-small cell lung cancer

Background: the aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of 18Fluorine-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) parameters in both overall survival and progression-free survival in Stage I-III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, 267 patients who were diagnosed as Stage I-III non-smal...
